Clinton Transit to Provide Free Rides on Election Day

Election 2022 free rides to poles

Clinton Transit is offering free rides to and from Clinton County polling locations on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8. The public transit agency provides curb-to-curb service throughout the county, offering poll workers and voters a safe, convenient way to get to the polls and back.

“The Blue Bus helps keep our community connected and thriving in many ways. On Election Day, our job is to remove barriers and make it as safe and easy as possible for our residents to participate in the election,” shares MaLissa Schutt, Executive Director for Clinton Transit.

Residents can easily schedule their free ride by calling 989.224.8127 or using the Clinton Transit mobile app, available in the App Store and Google Play. Due to anticipated demand, riders are encouraged to schedule their ride at least 24 hours in advance; however, rides can often be accommodated with as little as two hours’ notice.

As an added option, Clinton Transit offers walk-on service at popular locations in the St. Johns, Bath and DeWitt areas from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday through Friday based on route availability and on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk-on rides to polling locations on Election Day are also free of charge.

Clinton Transit’s standard transportation hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dispatch Office hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Established in 2001, Clinton Transit has been providing curb-to-curb service to meet the needs of all Clinton County residents. Fondly known as the Blue Bus, the on-demand transit system responds to ride requests and provides safe, reliable transportation to all county residents. This creates a more connected, accessible and vibrant Clinton County. For more information on the Blue Bus, visit mybluebus.com.
