Clinton County residents can now receive weekday rides on the Blue Bus later in the evening, thanks to Clinton Transit’s extended hours. These additional service hours are part of the public transit agency’s continued commitment to keeping residents connected to the important people and places in their lives.

Weekday service previously stopped at 7 p.m. and is now extended to 9 p.m. The Blue Bus provides curb-to- curb rides, which can be scheduled by calling the dispatch department at 989.224.8127.

New Service Hours:
Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Dispatch Office Hours:
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Blue Bus celebrated its 20th anniversary last year and, under the leadership of Schutt and the dedicated Board of Directors, is committed to increasing mobility throughout the agency’s service area.

“The key to keeping people connected is to efficiently coordinate the services provided by Clinton Transit with local and regional partners,” says Schutt. “All our efforts, from simplified fares and extended service hours to tri- county collaboration efforts, are designed to meet our community’s mobility needs.”
Established in 2001, Clinton Transit has been providing curb-to-curb service to meet the needs of all Clinton County residents. Clinton Transit Offers New Walk-On Service

press release

ST. JOHNS, MI: Clinton Transit, the public transportation system serving Clinton County, is now offering limited walk-on rides. Clinton Transit’s Blue Buses are standing by at locations throughout St. Johns, DeWitt, Bath and East Lansing from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

“We’ve found by strategically positioning our buses in high-traffic locations within our service areas, we are able to meet more people where they are and provide a new option to the community,” says MaLissa Schutt, Executive Director of Clinton Transit.

Walk-on rides are available on a first come, first served basis. Visit here for a complete list of locations.

Anyone who needs a ride can simply hop on a Blue Bus at one of 16 walk-on locations within Clinton County. Drivers will continue assisting passengers with wheelchairs and other mobility devices. Walk-on passengers can schedule a return ride when boarding, if needed. Regular rates apply to all walk-on rides.

Riders who need transportation at a specific time and place are still asked to schedule curb-to-curb service in advance by calling dispatchers at 989.224.8127. Rides can be arranged with as little as two hours’ notice. Standard operating hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Transportation outside of normal business hours or to locations outside the Tri-County region may also be available. “We provide more than just a ride. We keep riders connected to life’s essentials and help communities grow and thrive. Our heart for service and genuine care for our riders is at the core of everything we do,” said Schutt.
